Lost Pet Recovery FAQs

We're here to answer your questions

  • Can my pet see or hear the drone? Will it scare them?
Most animals don’t react to the drone because it operates at a high altitude. However, in some cases, very skittish pets may be startled if they hear it, which is why we plan each search carefully.
  • What areas do you cover?
We primarily operate in Utah and Salt Lake County, but we may travel further depending on the situation. Additional travel fees may apply.
  • How long does a search take?
Each search varies depending on the size of the area, weather conditions, and the environment. Some searches take an hour, while others may require multiple attempts over several days.
  • What types of pets can you search for?
We primarily search for dogs and cats, but we may be able to assist with other animals. If you have a unique case, contact us, and we’ll discuss whether our services can help.
  • How does the thermal drone work to find my lost pet?
Our drone uses thermal imaging technology to detect heat signatures, allowing us to locate animals even in low visibility conditions like dense vegetation or at night. However, the drone cannot see through buildings or solid structures.
  • Can you guarantee that you will find my pet?
While we put our full effort into every search, we cannot guarantee success. Many factors, such as terrain, weather, and how long the pet has been missing, affect the outcome.
  • Why do I have to retrieve my own pet?
The answer is as simple as your pet is more likely going to come to you than us.
  • What happens if you find my pet?
Once we locate your pet, we will provide you with their location and any necessary guidance. It is your responsibility to physically retrieve them. We will help with this process by providing extra hands, transportation, treats, leashes, etc.
  • What should I do before the search begins?
To increase the chances of success, keep food and familiar scents (like their bed or blanket) in the area they were last seen. Avoid excessive searching on foot, as this can spread their scent and make tracking more difficult.
  • Can you search in bad weather?
Certain weather conditions, like heavy rain, strong winds, or snow, can make flying difficult or unsafe. We will assess conditions on a case-by-case basis to determine the best time for the search.
  • Do you work at night?
Yes! Our thermal drone technology works best in cooler temperatures when heat signatures stand out more. Night searches can often be more effective, depending on the environment.
  • My pet is small—can your drone detect them?
Yes, but detection depends on size, body temperature, and environment. Larger pets like dogs and bigger cats show up more clearly, while very small animals (like tiny dogs or rabbits) may be harder to spot, especially in warm conditions.
  • Can I watch the drone footage in real time?
Yes, you will be involved in the search process.
  • What if my pet is moving while you are searching?
Pets on the move can be more challenging to track, but we adjust our search patterns based on recent sightings and behavior predictions. If your pet is actively moving, it’s helpful to have multiple people monitoring potential areas.
  • What if my pet has been taken inside someone’s home or is hiding under a house?
Unfortunately, our drones cannot detect heat through buildings, houses, or solid structures. If we suspect your pet is in an area we cannot scan, we will guide you on the best next steps.
  • What if my pet has been lost for days or weeks? Is there still hope?
Absolutely! Pets have been found weeks or even months after going missing. While finding them earlier is ideal, we have helped locate pets that have been missing for extended periods.
  • My dog is friendly, but my cat is skittish—how does that affect the search?
Friendly dogs may stay in open areas, making them easier to find, while shy or scared pets—especially cats—often hide. Understanding their behavior helps us plan the search more effectively.
  • How to prevent or lessen the chances of losing a pet?
    • Use Apple Airtags • Take your dog on regular walks to familiarize them with the area • Ensure gates are always locked and fences are properly maintained • Get the proper training for your pet to ensure when a door is opened they do not run out
